Congrats to Marlene McGlensey for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!
Nominating Organization: Crittenton Services for Children and Families
Honoree Category: Human & Community
Why Nominated: Marlene McGlensey has worked tirelessly to support the programs and services provided by Crittenton to troubled youth and their families for more than 25 years. Even though Marlene and her family have, at times, lived halfway around the world, her passion for and dedication to the spirit of direct service volunteerism at Crittenton has been unbroken. She organized her first volunteer group at Crittenton with the thought that “everyone wants to be a volunteer at Crittenton – they just don’t know it yet.” She has organized arts and craft groups, cooking groups, book clubs, game days groups, and summer carnivals. Through the Crittenton volunteer program, the children have fun, learn that people can be nice, and activities can be a good learning experience. Over the years Marlene has provided leadership, enthusiasm, and encouragement for developing the scope of volunteerism at Crittenton. She currently serves as President of Crittenton’s Cookie Moms Auxiliary, and has helped not only that group, but the entire Crittenton Volunteer Program, more than 300 volunteers strong, grow and prosper, bringing in new members and increasing the scope of it’s activities. Last year, she was awarded the Presidential Lifetime Volunteer Services Award for her work on behalf of Crittenton. She is a remarkable woman, with many talents, and great enthusiasm. Fortunately for Crittenton, her many talents and endless enthusiasm have been directed towards the well being of the Crittenton children and their families. Crittenton Services for Children and Families is proud to honor her.
