Honoree 2013 – Ross Gough

Congrats to Ross Gough for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!

Gough_RossName:  Ross Gough

Nominating Organization:  Irvine Ranch Conservancy

Honoree Category:  Animals & Environment

Why Nominated:  Ross has stepped into leadership roles that exceed expectations of a typical Docent; contributing to the design, planning, and scheduling of activities.  Ross leads a variety of interpretive and fitness programs for IRC, developing several of his own interactive and fun public hikes.  Ross has been a terrific ambassador for IRC with groups that in the past have been troublesome users, educating them on the importance of sustainable recreation and winning over their cooperation and support of the land.  To a great extent, Ross functions as a paid Interpretive Specialist would.  Ross provides a strong yet engaging leadership presence’ and is a joy to be around.  He very willingly shares his own experiences and resources to help other volunteers excel.  It would be very difficult to ‘replace’ Ross because he is so creative, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and dedicated.  We hope he stays with IRC for a long, long time.

Please write a note of congratulations below!
