Congrats to Cheryl Tonic for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!
Nominating Organization: Huntington Beach Police Department
Honoree Category: Law Enforcement
Why Nominated: Cheryl Tonic has been a member of the Huntington Beach Neighborhood Watch Newsletter Assembly crew for approximately 3 years. The HB Neighborhood Watch Newsletter Assembly group meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month rain or shine. They collate approximately 13,000 newsletters, fold them, label them, and prepare them for mailing and distribution each month. Cheryl is one of the first to arrive and last to leave. She helps move tables and chairs into place, and assists in preparing the work stations for all the other workers (usually 25 to 35 people) that come to assist. When all the newsletters are prepared Cheryl will always make sure everything is picked up and tables and chairs are back in place before she leaves. She is extremely efficient and works quickly. Cheryl welcomes everyone with a smile and makes them feel appreciated. She is one of our main trainers for new people. She seems genuinely interested in everyone, always upbeat, happy and promotes a very positive atmosphere. It is an honor to have Cheryl Tonic nominated as one of HBPD’s 2013 Spirit of Volunteerism Award recipients.
