Congrats to Pam Zirbel for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!
Nominating Organization: UnitedHealthcare
Honoree Category: Health
Why Nominated: Pam Zirbel organized an ambitious effort for UnitedHealthcare to support and encourage employee participation in the Tunnel 2 Towers Run that commemorated the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2011 tragedy. Supporting military and veterans is a cause near and dear to her heart because of her family’s contributions to the U.S. Armed Forces.
Last year, her enthusiasm moved her to encourage UnitedHealthcare to be a major sponsor of Tunnel 2 Towers Run. Her passion for the cause drove her to recruit and lead dozens of UnitedHealthcare employees to volunteer at the event to raise funds to help build “smart homes” for severely injured veterans. The homes will be specially outfitted to meet the injured veterans’ physical needs
“Pam brought this worthwhile cause to our attention at UnitedHealthcare last year,” said Greg Siebert, 2011 Co-Chair, UnitedHealthcare of California Social Responsibility Committee. “Her commitment to help injured veterans live a more independent life is to be commended, as demonstrated by encouraging UnitedHealthcare to become involved and support this worthwhile cause.”
Her sincere efforts touched many people’s hearts.
Pam Zirbel is an exceptional employee who graciously gives her time and talent to work to improve the overall health and well-being of the people in the local community. She is a shining example of UnitedHealthcare’s mission to help people live healthier lives and the Spirit of Volunteerism. Her work is greatly appreciated.
