Congrats to Sharon Nuckolls for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!
Nominating Organization: Girl Scouts of Orange County
Honoree Category: Human & Community
Why Nominated: Sharon has been a committed Girl Scout volunteer for over 20 years, and has been an extraordinary mentor to many. After all these years she still finds wonder and fun in Girl Scouting. She makes friends where ever she goes and delights in new experiences. Always enthusiastic and excited, she inspires others to be involved. Sharon has been an integral part of the Girl Scout/Pat Nixon Birthday committee for the past eight years. This event is held each year at the Richard Nixon library and is attended by thousands of Girl Scouts and their families from all over Orange County and the greater LA area. She has also served GSOC in many ways over the years including holding every Service Unit level position, being a Brownie trainer, serving on the Volunteer Recognition Committee and as a GSUSA National Delegate in Houston where she was proud to represent Orange County. She enthusiastically promotes being a Council Delegate, encouraging both girls and adults to become involved with the governance structure of our membership organization.
Sharon also has that special quality that inspires others to do great things. For example, she gave a considerable amount of her time to help a Girl Scout with special needs earn her Gold Award, working not only with the girl and her family but also with council to always ask what could be done to provide the best Girl Scout program available to the girl.
Whether it is organizing a multi-troop Campout, or planning a heartfelt volunteer appreciation event, Sharon is an extremely dedicated volunteer who works unselfishly, always with her team in mind, ultimately looking to provide the best program available for our girls. When you talk about those who ‘bleed Girl Scout green’ you are talking about Sharon Nuckolls.
