Congrats to Costume Committee for being honored as an outstanding community volunteers!
Team Members: Wanda Miller, Brian Norris, Dianna Stark, Michelle Vacca & Sandy Rodebaugh
Nominating Organization: OC Community Resources, OC Parks
Honoree Category: Animals & Environment
Why Nominated: A group of volunteers at Heritage Hill Historical Park formed a Costume Committee in early 2012. The purpose of the committee was to determine if the outfits being worn by the park volunteers were the best way to present history. The committee was concerned that Heritage Hill was out of step with other historical museums in Southern California and around the United States, and the inaccurate clothing was giving visitors the wrong idea about the past. After multiple field trips to historical sites, educating the park’s volunteers on museum standards, and conducting two surveys, the costume committee made its recommendations to the general volunteer membership in February 2013. The Costume Committee’s efforts brought excellence and innovation to OC Parks and Heritage Hill Historical Park. Wanda Miller is the chair of the Costume Committee; Brian Norris, Sandy Rodebaugh, Dianna Stark, and Michelle Vacca are members of the Costume Committee at Heritage Hill Historical Park.
