Congrats to School Tour Team at the Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center for being honored as an outstanding community volunteers!
Team Members: Judy Booth, Evalie DuMars & Norman Lacourciere
Nominating Organization: OC Community Resources, OC Parks
Honoree Category: Animals & Environment
Why Nominated: Judy, Evalie and Norman consistently go above and beyond the call of duty. They not only present the school tours in a uniquely entertaining and informative way, they are also always there to help us set up the tours, and do the clean up! Whether the buses are bringing 40 or 100, they are “up for the challenge”! Their enthusiasm and dedication have inspired many of our students to appreciate learning about nature and to continue learning more.
For over ten years, their service has been invaluable in helping us to develop and improve our school programs. Because of their dedication, the programs have become highly recommended throughout the school districts of Orange County, Los Angeles County and San Bernardino County. With their help we have been able to recruit more volunteers to serve our Orange County Parks and spark the interest of many students.
Here at Upper Newport Bay, the school tours continue to receive positive feedback from the staff, parents, and school teachers. Their popularity is entirely due to the efforts of Judy, Evalie and Norman. They continue to inspire not only the students who come on the tours, but also the other potential volunteers, who see how much personal satisfaction can come from doing the kind of professional work that we always see from these three nominated individuals.
