Honoree 2014 – Megan Dumas

Congrats to Megan Dumas for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!

Dumas_MegaName:  Megan Dumas

Nominating Organization:  Wells Fargo

Honoree Category:  Animals & Environment

Why Nominated:  We are honored to have the opportunity to recognize the great volunteer work Megan has done for Barks of Love.  She spent time at local shelters visiting and caretaking dogs who need homes.  She bought toys and treats and took dog’s out to play to escape their concrete jungles.  She drove around Los Angeles County and Orange County completing paperwork and evaluation on dogs for 2 different shelters in Southern California.  On weekends, she would be running around town picking up foster dogs and transporting them to various places.  She is also actively involved in adoption events all over Orange County and Los Angeles County raising funds not only for Barks of Love but other charitable organizations such as Susan G. Komen, Relay for Life, Miracles for Children and Race for the Rescue.  As a board member, she used leadership skills from work to lead board meetings, replied to thousands of emails asking for help to re-home or save thousands of dogs across the country.  She successfully recruited new volunteers and gave presentations on what rescue is about to 3 local businesses.  She spearheaded a fundraiser to raise money for a litter of puppies who were hospitalized due to parvo.  She inspired a group of women who are passionate about quilting and animals and now help the community by making bandanas to raise funds for the rescue.

Please write a note of congratulations below!

  1. Megan, it’s hard for me to quantify the time and effort you have put into saving these animals; three dress shirts, 3 1/2 pairs of shoes, four very nice rugs, the drywall in the garage, one work phone, countless socks, four pairs of pants, and the entire back yard…..Yes, that was difficult. But, that does not begin to measure up to the amount of love and kindness you have selflessly bestowed upon each rescue dog having passed through our home. The love you give to these animals is then carried on to their “forever families”, and continues like a ripple effect. I am truly impressed and amazed by your eagerness to share so much of your heart with these animals and the lives they touch. I am proud of what you’ve done, I admire who you are, I thank you for sharing your passions, and not a day goes by that I don’t consider myself lucky to have married you! All my love, your Husband
