Congrats to Susan Alvarez for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!

Alvarez_SusanName:  Susan Alvarez

Nominating Organization:  Cox Communications

Honoree Category:  Corporate

Why Nominated:  Susan Alvarez has an infectious personality and always has a smile on her face.  She is a dedicated volunteer, and for the past several years she has been a voluntary member of the Cox Cares Foundation advisory board, honored as Cox Communications’ Orange County Volunteer of the Year in 2011, and recognized as the 2013 Statewide Cox Volunteer of the Year.  Residing in Orange County and working in the Customer Care Support department of Cox Communications’ San Diego office, Susan is always one of the first employees to sign up for volunteer events in the communities we serve in Southern California. She is dependable, professional and the Cox Cares volunteer program wouldn’t be what it is today without her contagious positive attitude and dedication to our communities.  Susan has supported numerous volunteer projects including refurbishing a wounded warrior’s home through  OneOC’s 9/11 Days of Service; assisting at the Special Olympics of Orange County’s Regional Games and Turkey Bowl;  Easter basket making at Homefront America, Inc.; MLK Days of Service – Inside the Outdoors;  Operation Holiday Homework; making wishes come true at the annual Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Halloween Party in San Diego; and ensuring that families and children are safe at Digital  Fingerprinting/Family Safety Day events at Cox Solutions Stores in Orange and San Diego counties.  One of the not-so-glamorous volunteer tasks that Susan always volunteers for is to dress up as our loveable mascot Digeez!  Susan is always the first to raise her hand to wear the costume and bring Digeez to life at school assemblies and community events.  If that isn’t enough, Susan also is a tremendous promoter of volunteerism, encouraging family, friends and colleagues to join her at volunteer projects.  She genuinely cares about our local communities and she is a true asset to Cox and the communities where she lives, works and plays.

Please write a note of congratulations below!
