Why Nominated: Dan Moncino has been a member of the Mission Viejo Police Services Senior Community Activity Team since January of 2007. A chemist by trade, Dan has an analytical mind and is constantly looking for ways to improve the safety of his City. In his position as a Police Services volunteer, Dan works his weekly shift performing Vacation Home Checks; removing illegally posted signs from City property; routing the City’s mail; and reporting graffiti. Dan has always taken a particular interest in reporting graffiti, recognizing the influences it can have on the community when it is not quickly removed. Over the last 3 years, Dan’s shift has been responsible for reporting more than 200 incidents of graffiti. This quick and accurate reporting has helped to ensure the prompt removal of unsightly, rude and crude markings from both City and private property. Dan’s desire to look after the City where he lives exemplifies the passion of our Police Service volunteers and makes him a worthy recipient for recognition.
