Why Nominated: Douglas is celebrating 20 years with San Clemente Police Services.
He graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. He is a retired Marine Lt Col. after 26 years, serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Douglas also spent 10 years as a Personnel Officer, Civil Service Commission Executive Officer for the County of San Bernardino and 5 years as an Employee Representative for the San Bernardino Employees Association. He has served as President of the Grand Terrace Chamber of Commerce as well as Planning Commissioner and City Council Member for the City of Grand Terrace. Douglas was a Coordinator for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for the Orange County Sheriffs Dept. He has done extensive volunteer work, received Volunteer of the Year Award in 2005, and continues to do volunteer police services work for the Orange County Sheriff. He was selected as San Clemente Citizen of the Year in 2006. He is a past President of the San Clemente Don’s, an organization of business, professional and political individuals with a continuing interest in the community. Douglas has enjoyed his service on the Lawrence Welk Villa Owners Association Board of Directors the past four years, has always acted in the best interests of the owners of the Association, and if re-elected, will continue to do so. Douglas looks forward to maintaining the integrity and reputation currently enjoyed by the Welk Resort. Hobbies include golf, swimming, concerts and spending time with his family. He and his wife Myrna reside in San Clemente, CA, and have owned 3 intervals since 1985.
