Congrats to Mike Clayton for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!

Clayton_MikeName:  Mike Clayton

Nominating Organization:   Irvine Ranch Conservancy

Honoree Category:  Animals & Environment

Why Nominated:  Mike Clayton’s birding enthusiasm has led him to spearhead Irvine Ranch Conservancy’s birding working group. Mike knows his feathered friends well! Through birding field sessions, he has trained his fellow volunteers on the topic of birding basics for bird walks and observing birds on all types of programs. As the seasons change, so does Mike’s focus from birds to butterflies, allowing his audience on a variety of programs the chance to fully understand and appreciate nature as it changes around them. These programs have been well attended and are popular with the public and his fellow volunteers. Mike supports natural resource protection by consistently supporting wildlife monitoring activities, ranging from counting butterflies to raptor nesting activity.  Additionally, Mike has expanded his outdoor passion to sharing the benefits of using hiking poles with visitors to the land. He has adopted easy morning walks that include the chance to try out equipment while out along the trails. An all around naturalist, Mike brings forth a great experience for all on his programs.

Please write a note of congratulations below!
