Congrats to Peter Albini for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!
Nominating Organization: National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Pacific South Coast Chapter
Honoree Category: Human & Community
Why Nominated: Peter Albini’s quest to find a cure for multiple sclerosis is one that is close to home. His first experience with how MS can affect a family came when he met Alice. Years after meeting Alice, he met his wife who has MS and he has learned over the last 12 years how this disease affects not only the person who is diagnosed but also the family. Peter first got involved with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society when he participated in 5K walks in the mid 1990’s. In 2007, Peter participated in his first Bike MS: The 25th annual Bay to Bay Tour, a two-day, 150 mile trek from Irvine to San Diego. When he got home after that fun-filled and powerful weekend, he promised his wife he would ride until the fiftieth annual ride or there is a cure. He has been riding and raising money every year since. Currently he sits on the volunteer planning committee for the Bike Tour and also serves in our Ambassador Program. He speaks in our communities about the Chapter, his experiences as a caregiver and fundraiser, and ways to raise awareness in the fight against MS.
