Congrats to Patty Santry for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!

Santry_PattyName:  Patty Santry

Nominating Organization:  Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County

Honoree Category:  Human & Community

Why Nominated:  Patty is a long-time volunteer who is always willing to volunteer in the areas of Second Harvest’s greatest need. Since 2000, Patty has volunteered weekly in the food distribution center where she works with a team of people who sort donated food and produce – all of which is distributed to more than 200,000 people who are served each month. Patty’s take charge attitude; coupled with her friendly manner, help new volunteer groups get up to speed quickly. This not only contributes to our efficiency, but it fosters a sense of accomplishment for the newer volunteers and creates a positive volunteer experience. Patty has also generously offered Second Harvest her expertise in process engineering to help streamline the efficiency of our operation.

During the recent holiday season, Patty willingly and graciously agreed to help our Database Coordinator enter the influx of holiday donations in our database. This type of work is very involved and requires a detail-oriented and highly-skilled individual like Patty to efficiently and accurately enter the information. As an Ambassador and speaker on behalf of Second Harvest, Patty volunteers at various speaking engagements, tabling events, food drives and guides tours of our facility to children of all ages.

In her years of service to Second Harvest, Patty has logged over 1,100 hours of volunteer service. She has seen the Food Bank change over the years and has remained devoted to our mission to end hunger in Orange County. Patty is a role model and an inspirational source of motivation to other volunteers She is a true community leader.
