Congrats to Alicia Serratos for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!

Why Nominated:  Alicia is 8 years old and has a heart of gold. She has dedicated a lot of her time to helpeing others. This year alone she has volunteered over 146 hours of her time. A majority of her time has been spent in her school garden helping not only to raise money for supplies, but also providing a lot of hands-on help. From weeding, planting, and watering to proposing the idea of a Seed Library and Garden Club on campus. She has volunteered in other school and church gardens helping with maintenance as well. She has harvested food with The Harvest Club of Orange County, which was donated to The Second Harvest Food Bank. She has made dresses for girls in Africa who were in need. She has raised awareness about the mistreatment of elephants and money for The Asian Elephant Foundation. She has crocheted a sleeping mat for the homeless out of plastic grocery bags as well as put together care packages for them. She has also initiated and participated in a couple graffiti removals. She also donated her hair for the second time this year. She is always looking for ways to help others and is an asset not only to her Girl Scout Troop and school, but to the community as well.
