Congrats to Jackie Mitchell for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!
Nominating Organization: AccessOC, Southern California
Honoree Category: Health
Why Nominated: Jackie has been with us since September 2013, and has become one of our most reliable and dedicated volunteers. In addition to being there for our patients during surgery days, she has also become part of our daily operations by taking ownership of our Facebook account. Thanks to her our social media presence has been growing steadily! Jackie originally chose to volunteer with us because “AccessOC deals with people who actually live in Orange County and really need the help.” As a premedical student, Jackie tries to expose herself to not only the academics of medical science, but also to the hospital environment- where she can learn first-hand what it truly takes to be a doctor. When Jackie looks after our patients and their families, she feels that she has finally found a way to help real people from our community. Jackie exclaims, “…interacting with the patients and their families makes the whole experience more ‘real’ to me when I see just how much the patients and families’ lives are improved when they get the healthcare they need!” Thank you Jackie, for helping us build the bridge to care for the medically underserved in Orange County!
