Why Nominated:  You can see the commitment, dedication, enthusiasm and emotion in her eyes every time she visits the Goodwill of Orange County Assistive Technology Exchange Center. She is especially determined to have an impact on the lives of special needs children and the families that support them. Cheryl Barrett began volunteering with Goodwill of Orange County more than 10 years ago because she knew the struggles those children and families went through. Inside her own family, she saw how a cousin with special needs could test and inspire the will of caregivers.

Cheryl Barrett is our nominee for the OneOC Spirit of Volunteerism Award. Her professional experience has also been invaluable to Goodwill of Orange County.

As partner at Ferruzzo & Ferruzzo, LLP, Cheryl has expertise in planned estates and trust administration. She has earned certifications in Planned Giving and from the Veterans’ Benefits Council. With these skills and experience, Cheryl is an asset on numerous Goodwill committees, such as the Planned Giving Committee, the Compensation Committee and the Executive Committee.

She has served as board secretary and chair, and she led the search committee that selected Frank Talarico to become President and CEO of Goodwill of Orange County.

Cheryl is an ambassador for Goodwill, gaining supporters among all the people she meets. She is also a visionary leader with great input helping lead Goodwill of Orange County into the future.
