Why Nominated:  Gretchen Mavrovouniotis has contributed more than 300 hours to stewardship, citizen science, and interpretation of the Irvine Ranch Natural Landmarks since becoming a volunteer for Irvine Ranch Conservancy in 2014. Often working as a team with her husband Michael, they have helped with everything from native seed production, Tecate cypress and oak restoration, oak health monitoring, and the development of a bird monitoring program to completing a detail analysis of restoration trials. Furthermore, Gretchen and Michael provide ongoing support to public programs such as bird hikes, volunteer training, and Full Moon hikes. Their curiosity and insatiable appetite for learning and giving back make them a joy to work with. Their knowledge, experience and leadership are a tremendous asset in supporting the growing appreciation and protect of our open spaces. Thank you Gretchen!
