Congrats to James Bredenkamp for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!
Nominating Organization: AccessOC, Southern California
Honoree Category: Health
Why Nominated: Dr. Bredenkamp served as the Physician Champion for Mission Hospital’s 2014 Super Surgery Saturday. Through his tireless efforts to recruit volunteer physicians, coordinate the pre-operative care of our patients, and plan the logistics of Surgery Day, Dr. Bredenkamp essentially “made it happen”.
Thanks to Dr. Bredenkamp’s dedication to serving our patients, we were able to provide eight Orange County residents with the surgical care they desperately needed, but could not afford. Some of the patients, like 24 year old Laurie Arriaza, had been living with the pain and discomfort of their conditions for several years. In Laurie’s case, her condition prevented her from being able to work for over three years. After treatment at Mission Hospital’s Surgery Day, Laurie has since found employment and her quality of life has greatly improved.
Dr. Bredenkamp demonstrated the true meaning of championing a cause. We are grateful to have the opportunity to honor such a selfless leader!
