Honoree 2015 – Jorge Rivero

Congrats to Jorge Rivero for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!

Name:  Jorge Rivero

Nominating Organization:  Grandma’s House of Hope

Honoree Category:  Human & Community

Why Nominated:  Jorge was introduced to Grandma’s House of Hope after his daughter volunteered with us through her school. Soon after hearing his daughter’s experience with us, he became involved in serving as well. Since Jorge has been connected with us, he and his family have donated emergency candy for our Halloween alternative event after our current storage of candy had gone bad. They also hosted a Thanksgiving Feast for our Women’s Housing Program, where the ladies enjoyed a hot Thanksgiving meal, were served, and felt appreciated and valued. This past Christmas, Jorge and his family donated 2 Christmas trees and decorated them at a few of the homes. They also donated gift cards from Target and Walmart for Christmas.

After having been so generous in their donations, Jorge asked to know where are the greatest needs. He then sponsored a client for a brief time, and is faithful in supplying toilet paper – an odd request but extremely needed. Since taking on this project, Jorge has gone from donating 2 pallets of toilet paper once a year (approximately 2,160 rolls of toilet paper) to 2 pallets every 7-8 months. The ladies at the houses lovingly call him “The Toilet Paper Guy!”

We are so thankful for Jorge’s continuing support in Grandma’s House of Hope. It is exciting to see him faithfully work to meet the ongoing needs of our organization, and we are thrilled to be able to recognize his work!

Please write a note of congratulations below!
