Honoree 2015 – Lea Nakatsukasa

Congrats to Lea Nakatsukasa for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!

Name:  Lea Nakatsukasa

Nominating Organization:  Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County

Honoree Category:  Human & Community

Why Nominated: Lea is 15 years old and a sophomore at Northwood High School. She is a regular volunteer at Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and volunteers every Saturday as her time permits. Lea balances her school work nicely along with volunteering, and currently has maintained all A and A+ grades. She is also taking mostly honors classes at Northwood. Not an easy task for someone so young!

At Second Harvest, Lea volunteers as a food sorter. On a personal level, Lea enjoys organizing and sorting items, so makes for the perfect food sorter at Second Harvest Food Bank of OC! She sorts a variety of items and her responsibilities have ranged from sorting bread loaves, canned goods, personal use items; bagging fruits and vegetables; cleaning fruit juices for distribution; and packing food boxes for holiday distribution. Lea never complains that a task is too difficult, and has a great attitude in getting each job done efficiently and effectively. When she is unable to volunteer because of her heavy school load, she feels guilty

Lea also enjoys playing badminton very much. She serves as an assistant coach for Coach Rusli at the Irvine Chinese School in her spare time.  Lea finds she enjoys working with the kids very much.
