Congrats to Orlando Chacon for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!
Nominating Organization: CAPOC’s OC Food Bank
Honoree Category: Human & Community
Why Nominated: Orlando Chacon is the Orange County Sheriff’s Department official who resurrected the agricultural operation at the Musick Honor Farm Correctional Facility. The farming operation at that site was discontinued after several decades. With support from OC Sheriff Sandra Hutchens and the Orange County Board of Supervisors, that farming operation resumed, specifically to grow food for the OC Food Bank. Orlando has been very thoughtful in scheduling agriculture production to provide a consistent supply of locally grown, nutritious, and high demand fruits and vegetables. Orlando is a valued partner in combating hunger in Orange County.
