Why Nominated: Sol is a dedicated and passionate volunteer who currently serves on our Board of Directors and is our Mission Committee Chair. Sol is one of the founding members of the Unidos Contra el Cancer de Seno Coalition and is the current Chair for this committee.
Sol is actively involved with all mission related work that Komen Orange County undertakes. She works tirelessly to create partnerships between Komen Orange County, businesses and other non-profit organizations. She works closely with our Outreach Director to continually expand our engagement with the Latino Community and is our liaison to the Board regarding mission related work. She donates refreshments for the Unidos meetings and works closely with other lead volunteers on the Cafecitos Committee – planning and implementing group meetings. She assists with our Community Profile process and helps in every way she can, always stepping up, volunteering at events and is very hands-on with Komen projects and initiatives as well as serving at a governance level. In addition to all this she was the Team Captain for Latinas Race for the Cure which raised $7,017 and was awarded for being in the top 25 race teams last year.
Sol was awarded the Promise of One Komen National Award at our recent Volunteer Recognition Event on February 21, 2015.
