Congrats to Roger Weninger for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!
Nominating Organization: Huntington Beach Police Department
Honoree Category: Law Enforcement
Why Nominated: Roger Weninger, has been a member of the Huntington Beach Police Department, RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) since 2005, and his peers speak very highly of him and all he has contributed to the RSVP program. He is always pleasant to be around courteous and respectful of everyone.
For more than 8 years in addition to conducting Vacation House Checks, removing illegally posted signs, patrolling the parks, helping at community events, and other various duties, Roger has tasked himself with one of the most difficult assignment in the RSVP Program. He coordinates the daily patrol and special detail schedule for approximately 60 people monthly. Not only does this require him to schedule people on a regular basis but since they always go 2 people to a vehicle when on patrol he must also keep track of who is allowed to drive and who cannot. Which people cannot ride together for various reasons and who should be the lead person for the day etc. This job requires diligence and a great deal of patience. Roger makes it look effortless, but we all know it takes a hard working, dedicated individual to accomplish this. His positive and friendly attitude to this job and all the other things he does speaks volumes of his character. In addition Roger contributes greatly to the high morals and success of the RSVP program. His peers feel his commitment deserves to be recognized for the outstanding contribution he makes. His peers truly enjoy working with him.
These are just a few of the reasons Roger Weninger was selected as the Spirit Volunteer of the Year. Roger is not the type of person that every seeks recognition but the Huntington Beach Police Department is proud of have him as a member of our organization; we and our community members thank him for his dedication and service
