Congrats to First American Goes Pink for being honored as an outstanding team of volunteers!
Team Name: First American Goes Pink
Team Members: Jeannette Garcia and Stephanie Hathaway
Nominating Organization: First American
Honoree Category: Corporate
Why Nominated: Stephanie Hathaway and Jeannette Garcia are valued and dedicated First American employees. They are also two young women who are breast cancer survivors. After battling and beating the disease, both Jeannette and Stephanie became breast health advocates and got involved with the Susan G. Komen foundation. Susan G. Komen’s mission is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering others, ensuring quality care for all and investing in science to find the cures.
This past September, Stephanie and Jeannette took it upon themselves to create the first ever First American employee team to participate in the Susan G. Komen Orange County Race for the Cure. The event, held annually in Newport Beach, CA, raises funds for community health outreach programs in Orange County, while also funding research and global breast health programs. Stephanie and Jeannette worked tirelessly to encourage participation in the race and raise funds for the cause. They knew the task ahead of them was a big one and thus created a committee to help them execute First American’s involvement in the race. The committee helped with making sure the entire team was outfitted in special breast cancer edition First American t-shirts and pink tutus. They were able to build a team of over 100 employees and their families to participate in the race. Their initial goal was to raise $5,000 towards cancer research; but this was far surpassed with a total donation of almost $8,000. Stephanie and Jeannette both exude passion and excitement for this worthy cause. We are proud to have employees such as these as part of our First American team. Thank you to both women for all of the time and energy they devoted to making First American’s participation in the Race for the Cure a huge success!
