Honoree 2015 – Susan Low

Congrats to Susan Low for being honored as an outstanding community volunteer!

Name:
Susan Low

Nominating Organization:  Latham & Watkins

Honoree Category:  Human & Community

Why Nominated:  Susan is an active member in her community and continues to search for ways where both her and her colleagues at Latham & Watkins can be involved. Last year, she organized a Cereal Drive and a Peanut Butter Drive for Second Harvest Food Bank. Through Susan’s leadership, 100 pounds of cereal and 124 pounds of peanut butter was collected and donated to the Food Bank.

On an annual basis, Susan works with Share Our Selves (SOS) to bring the holiday spirits to struggling families. Last December, Latham & Watkins adopted two families: a single dad with three sons and a single mom with three daughters. Thanks to the generosity of everyone in the office, the families were provided with the following items: a new jacket or sweatshirt, a casual outfit, a blanket, a Target gift card and a Payless gift certificate for new shoes. In addition, each child received two new toys (for the boys one toy was a skateboard and the girls received a razor scooter), a backpack with supplies and school uniforms, as well as pajamas, socks, underwear and toiletries. The Mom received a new handbag, two new blouses, a griddle and a mini cupcake maker. The Dad received a new wallet and a gasoline gift card. Besides these gifts, both families were provided with $200 worth of food from Costco, as well as a $175 gift card to Stater Brothers to buy a turkey or ham for Christmas, as well as perishables. Latham & Watkins was also able to provide SOS $500 in Target gift cards.

Susan organized various charitable events throughout the years, many of which were greatly successful due to her perseverance. She is an inspiration to all of us and deserves to be recognized for her countless efforts.
